For my own and hopefully your amusings. It came forth from just, without expectations, trying to sit down and go with the flow. I found it to be good practice. Once in a while we need to let go of everything and forget about the thousands of choices that preoccupy our minds and go with whatever the moment serves you. But that’s just what I think. I might be wrong but I might as well be right. Who knows?
The original song is by the incredible The Postal Service. It has been covered before (probably millions of times) but one most notable cover version has been done by Jonna Lee. Be sure to scan the interwebs for that one too (iTunes is a good place to start.) As with the previous covers I did, my wanting to cover this song is a result of my admiration for these artists. They get inside my head and I have the urge to try it out myself. Enjoy!
A little cover of a song by one of my favorite bands at the moment: Slow Runner. Be sure to check them out. They’re about to embark on a big tour as well as release another gem of an album.
Oh yeah. Why I covered it ? Just because it’s been stuck in my head for quite some time now. So far I have not succeeded in getting out, but then again.. It’s just an amazing song, so all in all I don’t mind if it sticks for a little while longer.
It feels like it has been forever since I last posted here. In compensation for the long wait, I decided to upload something. I just finished this new song. It’s about someone living in a glass cage or container of some sorts. This person has been in there for as long as he can remember and one day by sheer accident, the glass shatters and his eyes open up to a new horizon of endless possibilities. He is now able to roam freely but is a little scared because with every step he takes, he realizes he’s got nothing to go back to.
Well, hope you can enjoy. I recorded this very unprofessionally, but I hope you don’t mind and can hear the essence of the song. I’ll start working on the ‘arranged’, more decent version soon! So keep an eye out for that.
Heart of gold Care for me not Like ink I’ve stained Once more I’ll blot Stricken by the jealous thirst On dried up grounds love lust’s a curse Mark these worthy Moments scaled As Hearts of stone We shall embrace
I’m taking requests as of now ! Drop me a line on facebook or twitter with your request, demand, order, etc. I’ll play, sing, whatever song you’d like me to ! Well, I have boundaries, but I’m open to almost anything. Try me !
Was messing around with some rhodes sounds a while back. Somehow it sounds very fragile, very vulnerable… and less aggressive than the piano. But still i’m always recording ideas with both… Maybe it’s uncertainty, maybe the exact opposite ‘cause they always breathe a new kind of atmosphere into musical pieces.
Give it a listen and hopefully my ramblings will become more clear.
So maybe some of you read my tweet(s) and wondered what the hell was up a few days ago?
Well, the story begins with me starting my job. First days in all that could have gone wrong, went wrong. Pretty uncool experience. My unfortune did not stay within the bounds of work, oh no… Things started to happen at home too. The last drop for me was when I just sat down behind my desk after a long day of work and my computer just didn’t start up… It died. Okay, stuff like that happens. But my entire new EP was on it, my lyrics, ideas for cover artwork, and plenty more. I was ready to explode when I tried to chase the little light left.
I actually enjoyed the days without much digitalism. Of course my computer was brought to the shop, if it wasn’t to be saved… would have been shitty but could have taken it as a sign to redo everything. Fortunately my luck turned and the shopkeeper was able to fix the computer and everything was still intact.
So yeah, I thought I had some really bad karma for the stuff that happened the entire last month. But I’ve now learnt that you just need to search for that little dot of light in a dark period and chase that light. Eventually you will be better for it !
Now I can finally start on laying the last touches on the EP. More on that soon.
