Snippet-time ! Just a little piano-improv I thought you’d be able to appreciate. Lately I found love in just pressing the ‘record’ button in my DAW and play random stuff until there’re some patterns, notes, phrases or whatever that seem to fit well. Within that ‘jam-session’ I sometimes try and montage pieces together and again wing it from there. It really reinvigorates my musical approach and inspires a lot.
I’m, as you’ve probably noticed, taking my time writing, recording and experimenting (with) new stuff. There are multiple reasons for that. Mainly I want to deliver something I’m really proud of and evenly important I want what is in my head to come out without compromise (“oh yeah, that’ll do” you know?)
Now a while back I wrote a piece about my need to resource, look at everything from a different angle, etc. I kind of feel like fighting an uphill battle when trying to please everyone around me. Why I have that need… Can’t really put my finger on it. What I’ve come to realise though, is that maybe it’s about time I’d channel the energy that I’d been wasting on getting everything around me in a perfect circle, into things my heart, soul and instinct conduct me. I’m weighing my options and taking everything into consideration. Best is to take my steps one at a time in contrast to where I’ve mostly rushed stuff. Maybe I’m a little late with this lesson but I’ve learned that even having the best intentions will, at one point, cause some sort of a chaos. Our best bet is to take from all we’re served and find balance. Easier said than done.. could be, but realise that so much is strapped to a timebomb labeled: ‘Dialectics’.
Take care,
B.
I said I’d record it & upload it to mySpace, so here it is ! Hope you’ll enjoy it !
Also youtube holds a in-room performance of this song, so check that out as well if you haven’t already. Be sure to share it with friends, family, total random strangers with smartphones trying to update their facebook-status’ anytime & everywhere, and all others you might come across…
Be well,
B.
